![]() ![]() ![]() Plus, when you think about it, Ye Seo and her character are just products of her mom's parenting style. Koreans also don't like Hye Na/Sue Im as much claiming that they're overly nosy and that they try to hard to disrupt "what has already been in place." Again, I don't want to generalize or say that there is anything twisted about this sort of belief, but that's the general observation I have. But Koreans do glorify ambitions and hard work, and they perhaps see the fact that Ye Seo aspires to attend SNU medical school as extremely admirable and even likable. I agree with you that Ye Seo is unbearably rude and disrespectful, especially towards Hye Na and even adults like the Hwangs. Not to generalize or anything but the Korean viewers have a different view and tend to side with Ye Seo and her mom quite often. Same thing with Sue Im, with her righteousness and strong opposition to the lifestyle at the Castle. Hye Na pretty much embodies this belief that inequity should be erased by fighting for what she deserves in life. ![]() I notice that international viewers tend to empathize with Hye Na more, because it's true that she is extremely strong despite her life being filled with obstacles and misfortune. ![]()
